Build it or furnish it. Family-proof every choice.

Let me guess.

A new home, or a home that finally deserves the real version of itself — and one question under every single decision: will the kids ruin this? The project is in front of you, and the internet is 47 open tabs of marketing built to confuse you.

You don't need more ideas. You need kid-friendly decisions, narrowed down, for the hours you actually have. Nobody hands families the playbook. So here it is.

Now picture the same house, designed.

A kitchen that survives the witching hour. A dining table with actual dinner on it. (The living room is finally pulling its weight.) A wind-down that winds down. Same house, same kids, same you — designed differently. Here's how:

The Family-Proof Method, built for family homes.

The Print Edition is built on the Family-Proof Method: every decision, in order. Order matters. Every choice goes through the Family-Proof Method's four questions. Kid-friendly is the luxury. Function first, beauty follows.

Choose your toolkit.

The Renovation Standard Toolkit — from first walkthrough to final punch, in 8 parts: every fixture and material sourced, every decision made once.

The Furnishing Standard Toolkit — every room and every purchase decision, first home to forever home, in 10 parts: exactly how to shop, what to skip, and where it goes.

Includes the interactive project manager

Every selection and purchase in one place, with your whole-house budget updating live. Order dates, tracking, delivery, install — so you know what to spend before you're standing in the store.

Fill in the blanks, check the boxes, enter one budget number — the project manager does the math from there.

Start wherever you are: one room or the whole house.

Everything a designer would hand you — no designer required.

Working with a designer? You'll be their favorite client: every decision is already made, so the project moves faster and smoother.

Lifetime access, including every update. Questions? Send me a note.

Doing both? The Standard Toolkit Library includes both Standard Toolkits: The Renovation Standard Toolkit for the build, and The Furnishing Standard Toolkit for everything that goes in it afterward. See the Library →

OUR TRANSPARENCY STANDARD

The Family-Proof Method

Every recommendation in every toolkit answers four questions: Is it safe for kids? Is it washable? How many years will it last? What does it cost per year? Most design advice skips straight to "buy this." Your design friend doesn't.

Nice things, kids included.

The Print Edition: the bound, printed workbook, plus the fillable digital workbook and the interactive project manager spreadsheet, made to work as a set. The workbook makes the decisions; the project manager keeps track of every one.

You do it all. Your house should be an extra set of hands. This toolkit turns the full Family-Proof Method into a step-by-step plan any family can follow — no guessing, no judgment.

  • 8am

An entry with a landing zone for every family member. At your own pace. I got you. (Shoes found on the first try. Documented miracle.)

  • 12pm

Quiet house. A home office where you can actually think, and a closet whose layout finally works. The house works for you too. Revolutionary, apparently.

  • 4pm

The witching hour: everyone home, dinner starting, everything happening at once. A kitchen zoned so homework, snacks, and cooking coexist — without the pile-up.

  • 6pm

A dining room you actually sit in. The table that brings everyone back together.

  • 8pm

Bath, books, bed: rooms designed so the wind-down runs calm. We can't make your kid sleep through the night. But we can design the bedroom that helps.

  • All year

Seasonal routines that make the holiday magic happen, without the November scramble.

Jacqueline Norrise, interior designer

From your Design Friend

Hi — it's me.

I'm Jackie — an Architectural Digest–featured interior designer with a BFA in Interior Architecture & Design from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, a parent, and your design friend. 15+ years of projects, 100+ family homes, zero judgment. I kept hearing the same thing: "I have kids — I can't have a nice home." As if family design has to mean cheap and disposable. It doesn't. Somebody should design homes for actual families. So I did.

STILL WONDERING SOMETHING?

Questions, answered

Is this for one room or a whole house?

Either. Start wherever you are — one room at a time or the whole house, at your own pace. The Family-Proof Method scales to your project.

I'm not "design-y." Will I get it?

It's step-by-step. If you can follow a recipe, you can follow this.

Digital or physical?

Both. The printed toolkit ships free, made to order (allow 2 weeks); the digital edition and the interactive project manager arrive instantly.

I'm hiring a designer — is this still useful?

Very. You'll show up knowing your style, your budget, and your priorities — the prep that makes any design project, and any designer, better.

Why not a course?

A course teaches you, then leaves you to do it alone. This does the work with you: your home, your budget, your rooms, filled in as you go, with the project manager keeping it all in one place. No videos to sit through, no modules to finish first. Start at whatever part your project is in.

Why these prices?

The complete Family-Proof Method, calibrated from 15+ years of real client projects — not a template, the actual toolkit. Designer-tested in 100+ family homes.

Renovating or furnishing?

Choose either toolkit above, in print. Want both? The Standard Toolkit Library holds both Standard Toolkits, digital, in one purchase.
